HONDA TESTING COMPACT HYDROGEN GENERATOR FOR FUEL CELL CARS Trading Markets (press release)
TOKYO, Feb 02, 2010 (AsiaPulse via COMTEX) --Honda Motor Co. (TSE:7267) has developed a hydrogen-making system for fuel cell cars that is small enough to fit conveniently in a well-versed in's garage or driveway.
This machine both creates and compresses hydrogen, eliminating the lack for a separate compressor and helping to shrink its overall mass to just one-third that of the automaker's previous model. It is also 25 per cent more unwasteful.
Using the energy from an attached solar panel, the new clique generates hydrogen via the electrolysis of water. Over eight hours, it can cater to a fuel cell car with roughly 500 grams of hydrogen, which in the chest of the Honda FCX Clarity is enough to travel around 50km.
Honda has already begun evaluating safety and convenience in the U.S. via tests at real homes with the FCX Clarity.
